ChatGPT is an AI language model that can answer questions across various topics in a human-like text response. It has been developed by OpenAI and is currently free to use. You just need an account (free to create) on the openAI website, and you can start asking your questions.
My first experience with ChatGPT was a few days ago, and I have written about it here:
How To Use ChatGPT: I Asked This Powerful AI Tool 8 Questions.
How To Make Money With ChatGPT: 5 Easy Ideas For Beginners
In this article, I explore the capabilities of ChatGPT with some more Questions.
ChatGPT Examples: Q&A With ChatGPT
In the section below I have mentioned some of the questions I asked ChatGPT, and the responses that ChatGPT provided. The questions include an introduction to ChatGPT in its own words, the capabilities of ChatGPT, and some informational questions on finance and investing. It is fun to use ChatGPT. Take a look at the responses given by ChatGPT below.
1. What is ChatGPT?
It was funny that ChatGPT could not respond to the question “What is ChatGPT?” directly. This maybe because the development team might not have come up with the name ChatGPT early enough, and the AI is not trained to know its name. That’s very interesting!
However, I rephrased the question to “Who are you?” and got the following response.
I am Assistant, a large language model trained by OpenAI. I do not have a personal name or identity, as I am a machine learning model designed to assist users in generating human-like text. My main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
ChatGPT mentions that it is a machine-learning model that generates human-like responses. It has been trained on large amounts of data, but it cannot perform internet research in real-time to find an answer. What this means is it cannot respond to questions about news and current affairs.
2. What are the capabilities of ChatGPT?
As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my capabilities include understanding and generating human-like text on a wide range of topics. I can provide information on a wide range of subjects and can hold a conversation on many topics. I do not have access to the internet, so I am unable to browse the web or provide information that is not contained within my training data. My main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive.
ChatGPT responds by saying it can even help with answers to questions on multiple topics, and even hold conversations with people, due to its capability to generate human-like text.
3. Till which year does ChatGPT know the current affairs and news?
As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I do not have knowledge of current events or news stories. I am designed to generate text based on the input provided to me, but I do not have access to information about current events or news. My training data consists of a wide range of text from books, articles, and websites, but it is not up-to-date, as my training was completed in 2021. I’m sorry if I can’t be of more help with this question. Is there something else I can assist you with?
Here I wanted to see if ChatGPT is aware of the latest data that it has been trained on. It said that its training was completed in 2021.
Capabilities of ChatGPT
4. Is ChatGPT comfortable with all topics?
As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I am able to understand and generate text on a wide range of topics. I have been trained on a vast amount of text data, which allows me to provide information and hold conversations on many subjects. I do not have preferences or personal opinions, so I am equally comfortable discussing any topic that falls within my capabilities. However, please keep in mind that I do not have access to the internet, so I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
ChatGPT’s expertise is heavily dependent on the data that it has been trained on. It spans various subjects.
5. Can ChatGPT draw pictures?
I’m sorry, but I am not capable of drawing pictures. I am a large language model trained by OpenAI, and my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
ChatGPT is a language model that can generate text responses, so a picture output is not possible here (at least now). However, if you want AI pictures from text prompts, you can check out the AI art generators here: Best AI Art Generators From Text – Text To Image AI Tools
6. Can ChatGPT write an essay?
As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I am capable of generating human-like text on a wide range of topics. This means that I could potentially be used to assist with writing an essay, by providing suggestions for ideas, structure, and language. However, please keep in mind that I am not a person and do not have personal experiences or knowledge that could be used in an essay.
My capabilities are limited to generating text based on the input that I receive and the data that I have been trained on. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
ChatGPT can research and respond to questions, so potentially it can aid in writing essays as well. I decided to test out ChatGPT’s essay-writing capabilities in my next question.

These banks play a vital role in the US economy, providing financial services to millions of consumers, businesses, and other institutions. They offer a wide range of products and services, including checking and savings accounts, loans, credit cards, investment products, and more.
The largest banks in the US are often considered to be the most financially stable and reliable, as they have a long history of serving their customers and managing their risks. However, they are also subject to strict regulations and oversight, in order to protect consumers and maintain the stability of the financial system.
On my prompt, ChatGPT compiled a list of the 25 largest banks in the United States, and also wrote a paragraph about the large banks, the services they provide, and that they are governed by tight regulations. I have not fact-checked the ranking data because it is time sensitive, and can change over time. Remember, ChatGPT cannot provide real-time data.
ChatGPT Examples For Math
8. Can ChatGPT do calculus?
I’m sorry, but I am not capable of performing calculus or any other type of advanced mathematical calculations. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have the ability to execute mathematical operations or solve complex equations, as I am not a program or application.
My capabilities are limited to understanding and generating text, based on the data that I have been trained on. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
I wanted to test out if ChatGPT can do some complex math as well, so I asked if it can do Calculus. ChatGPT responded that it is not capable of performing Calculus or solving complex equations.
9. Can ChatGPT do basic arithmetic?
I’m sorry, but I am not capable of performing basic arithmetic or any other type of mathematical calculations. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have the ability to execute mathematical operations or solve equations, as I am not a program or application.
My capabilities are limited to understanding and generating text, based on the data that I have been trained on. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
Okay, not Calculus, but can ChatGPT do basic arithmetic? To my surprise, ChatGPT responded that it cannot perform even basic arithmetic. I decide to throw in a question anyway.
10. What is the sum of 10+15?
The sum of 10 and 15 is 25. To find the sum of two numbers, you simply need to add them together using the basic arithmetic operation of addition. In this case, 10 plus 15 is equal to 25.
10 + 15 = 25
I hope this helps!
Well, it did add two numbers quite easily. So, I am not sure why it said it could not perform arithmetic in the previous response.
ChatGPT Examples For Coding
11. Can ChatGPT write code?
I’m sorry, but I am not capable of writing code. I am a large language model trained by OpenAI, and my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have the ability to execute commands or perform tasks on a computer, as I am not a program or application.
My capabilities are limited to understanding and generating text, based on the data that I have been trained on. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data.
Can ChatGPT code? To my surprise, ChatGPT said “NO”. It is surprising to me because a couple of days ago, ChatGPT wrote swift code for me.
Read here: How To Use ChatGPT: I Asked This Powerful AI Tool 8 Questions
Or, see it in action in the video.
12. Please write code in Swift for a loan calculator app.
Updated answer [Jan 21, 2023]: The ability to write code is back on ChatGPT. I asked ChatGPT to write Swift code for a loan calculator app, and it did write some basic code for that.
import Foundation
// Function to calculate the monthly payment for a loan
func calculateLoan(principal: Double, interestRate: Double, term: Int) -> Double {
// Convert the interest rate to a decimal
let r = interestRate / 100 / 12
// Calculate the term in months
let t = term * 12
// Calculate the monthly payment
let payment = (principal * r) / (1 - pow(1 + r, -t))
return payment
}
// Example usage
let principal = 100000.0
let interestRate = 5.0
let term = 30
let monthlyPayment = calculateLoan(principal: principal, interestRate: interestRate, term: term)
print("Monthly Payment: $\(monthlyPayment)")
previous answer below:
I’m sorry, but I am not capable of writing code in any programming language. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive.
Learning from the previous case (when ChatGPT said it cannot perform arithmetic, but did it anyway), I decided to ask ChatGPT to write some lines of code in Swift to build a loan calculator app.
Bummer, I got the same response from ChatGPT – “I am not capable of writing code in any programming language”.
Maybe they are updating ChatGPT i.e. adding and removing features now, that’s my best guess.
ChatGPT Examples For Data Science
13. Retrieve Data From A Table Using a SQL Query
Write SQL code for retrieving data from a table named Customers. Query for the customers’ names and average order values for those who have purchased at least 10 items in the last 12 months.
Assuming that the Customers table has columns named “customer_id”, “customer_name”, and “order_date” for the customer ID, customer name, and order date respectively, and there is another table named Orders which has a column named “quantity” for the number of items purchased in each order, and a column named “customer_id” for the customer who made the order, the SQL code to retrieve the data can be written as follows:
This query uses a subquery to calculate the total order value for each customer who has purchased at least 10 items in the last 12 months. The subquery joins the Orders table with the Customers table on the customer ID, filters the orders that were made in the last 12 months using the WHERE clause, groups the orders by customer ID, and calculates the total order value for each customer by multiplying the quantity and the unit price of each item in the order, and summing them up.
The outer query then joins the Customers table with the subquery on the customer ID, groups the result by customer name, and calculates the average order value for each customer using the AVG function on the total order value calculated in the subquery.
SELECT c.customer_name, AVG(o.total_order_value) as avg_order_value
FROM Customers c
JOIN (
SELECT customer_id, SUM(quantity * unit_price) as total_order_value
FROM Orders
WHERE order_date >= DATEADD(month, -12, GETDATE())
GROUP BY customer_id
HAVING SUM(quantity) >= 10
) o ON c.customer_id = o.customer_id
GROUP BY c.customer_name
Since I did not specify the complete structure of data table(s), here ChatGPT assumes there are two data tables, with certain column names, and makes a join on the customer_id column to gather the relevant data from the database.
Fair enough!
14. Write python code to import a wine dataset from CIFAR library
So, this is a trick question. CIFAR doesn’t have a ‘wine’ dataset, but sci-kit learn has it. Let’s see if ChatGPT is able to understand that.
I’m sorry, but CIFAR is a library for computer vision datasets, and it does not contain any wine datasets. However, there are many other Python libraries that contain wine datasets. One of the most popular is scikit-learn, which contains the wine dataset as part of its datasets module.
Here’s an example of how to load the wine dataset from scikit-learn:
from sklearn.datasets import load_wine
# Load the wine dataset
data = load_wine()
# Print the names of the features
print("Features:", data.feature_names)
# Print the names of the target classes
print("Target classes:", data.target_names)
# Print the shape of the data
print("Data shape:", data.data.shape)
# Print the shape of the target
print("Target shape:", data.target.shape)
The output of this code will print out the names of the features and the target classes, as well as the shape of the data and the target. The wine dataset contains 13 features and 3 target classes, and has a total of 178 samples.
ChatGPT didn’t get tricked and was able to identify that there are no ‘wine’ datasets in the CIFAR library. In fact, it was able to identify that the wine dataset is located in the sci-kit learn library and wrote a few lines of code to load the wine dataset.
15. Do EDA on the wine dataset
My next prompt was to do an Exploratory Data Analysis on the wine dataset. To check whether ChatGPT remembers the context, I prompted “do EDA on the above data”.
Sure, here’s an example of how to perform Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) on the wine dataset using Python and the pandas and seaborn libraries:
import pandas as pd
import seaborn as sns
from sklearn.datasets import load_wine
# Load the wine dataset
data = load_wine()
# Convert the dataset to a pandas dataframe
df = pd.DataFrame(data.data, columns=data.feature_names)
df['target'] = data.target
# View the first few rows of the dataframe
print(df.head())
# View some summary statistics of the dataframe
print(df.describe())
# View the distribution of the target variable
sns.countplot(x='target', data=df)
# View the correlations between the features
sns.heatmap(df.corr(), annot=True)
This code first loads the wine dataset and converts it to a pandas dataframe. It then prints out the first few rows and some summary statistics of the dataframe.
Next, it uses seaborn to create a countplot of the target variable, which shows the distribution of the three target classes in the dataset.
Finally, it uses seaborn to create a heatmap of the correlations between the features, which shows how strongly each feature is correlated with every other feature. This can help identify any strong relationships between features, which can be useful in feature selection and modeling.
Note that this is just a simple example of EDA, and there are many other techniques that can be used to explore and analyze the wine dataset in more detail.
I am glad that ChatGPT was able to remember the previous prompt and also infer that EDA in the context would mean “Exploratory Data Analysis”.
It wrote a few lines of code in Python to import the wine dataset, and convert it into a dataframe. Then it prints the first few rows of the dataset using df.head() and also a summary of the data using df.describe().
It further goes on to plot the distribution and heatmap.
ChatGPT Examples For Finance
16. Where can I learn about personal finance?
There are many resources available online and in print that can help you learn about personal finance. Some options include taking a class or course on the subject, reading books or articles on personal finance, or consulting a financial advisor for guidance. You can also try searching for information on personal finance websites or forums, where you can find a wealth of information and advice from experts and other individuals who have experience with managing their finances.
Additionally, many schools and educational institutions offer classes and programs on personal finance, which can be a great way to learn about the subject in a structured and comprehensive way.
ChatGPT lists options for learning personal finance such as books, articles, and courses, but did not name any specific resource by name.
Anyway, you’re in good luck, since you are already on a good personal finance blog.
17. What is a REIT?
A real estate investment trust (REIT) is a type of investment vehicle that allows individuals to invest in real estate without the need to directly purchase and manage property. REITs are typically publicly traded companies that own and manage a portfolio of properties, such as office buildings, shopping malls, apartments, or hotels.
REITs generate income by leasing out their properties to tenants, and they are required by law to distribute at least 90% of their taxable income to shareholders in the form of dividends. This makes REITs a popular investment option for individuals who are looking for a way to invest in real estate without the hassles and challenges of direct property ownership.
ChatGPT provided a decent definition of REITs and added an interesting fact that they are required to pay out 90% of their profits to investors.
18. What is a stock?
A stock, also known as a share or equity, is a type of financial instrument that represents a stake in the ownership of a company. When you buy a stock, you are purchasing a share of the company’s ownership, and you become a shareholder. As a shareholder, you are entitled to a portion of the company’s profits, as well as a say in important decisions affecting the company’s operations.
The value of a stock is determined by a variety of factors, including the company’s performance, the overall state of the economy, and investor demand for the stock. Stocks are often bought and sold on stock exchanges, such as the New York Stock Exchange or the NASDAQ, and they can be an important component of a diversified investment portfolio.
A good definition of stock by ChatGPT.
19. What is a bond?
A bond is a type of debt instrument that represents a loan made by an investor to a borrower, such as a corporation or government. When you buy a bond, you are lending money to the issuer of the bond, who promises to pay you a fixed rate of interest over a specified period of time. At the end of the term, the issuer of the bond is also required to repay the principal amount that you originally lent.
The interest rate on a bond is determined by a variety of factors, including the creditworthiness of the issuer and the current market conditions. Bonds are often seen as a safer investment than stocks, as they offer a fixed rate of return and the potential for principal protection. However, they also typically offer lower potential returns than stocks.
A good definition of a bond by ChatGPT. It also mentions that bonds are viewed as safer investments than stocks, and typically offer lower returns.
20. What is cryptocurrency?
Cryptocurrency is a digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security and is decentralized, meaning it is not controlled by any central authority, such as a government or financial institution. Cryptocurrencies are based on distributed ledger technology, such as blockchain, which allows transactions to be recorded and verified securely and efficiently.
The most well-known cryptocurrency is Bitcoin, but there are many others, such as Ethereum, Litecoin, and Ripple. Cryptocurrencies are primarily used as a medium of exchange, and they are often used as an alternative to traditional fiat currencies, such as the US dollar or the euro. Cryptocurrencies are highly volatile and can be subject to significant price fluctuations, which makes them a risky but potentially lucrative investment.
ChatGPT knows about cryptocurrencies, the concept of blockchain, and popular cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. It also mentions that cryptocurrency investments are risky.
21. Should I invest in Bitcoin?
It is not within my capabilities to provide financial advice or make investment recommendations. As a large language model trained by OpenAI, my main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive. I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information. I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data. It would be best to consult a financial advisor or conduct your own research before making any investment decisions.
Next, I pop the question – “Should I invest in Bitcoin” expecting it to give an answer one way or another. Thankfully, it did not give a binary (Yes or No) response and directed me to conduct research before making investment decisions.
22. Why is it important to diversify investments?
It is important to diversify investments because it can help reduce the overall risk of an investment portfolio. When you diversify your investments, you are spreading your money across a range of assets with different risk and return characteristics. This means that if one of your investments performs poorly, the other investments in your portfolio may be able to offset the loss.
Diversification can also help to smooth out the returns on your investments over time, reducing the impact of short-term market fluctuations. By diversifying your investments, you can potentially maximize your expected return while minimizing the overall risk of your portfolio. This is why diversification is often considered an essential component of sound investment strategy.
ChatGPT also seems to know the benefits of diversifying investments.
23. What is modern portfolio theory?
Modern portfolio theory (MPT) is a theory in financial economics that proposes that investors can maximize their expected return by diversifying their investments across a range of assets that have different levels of risk and return. The theory is based on the idea that by holding a portfolio of assets with different risk and return characteristics, investors can reduce the overall risk of their portfolio while still maintaining a high expected return.
MPT is based on the concept of efficient diversification, which states that the most efficient portfolios are those that offer the highest expected return for a given level of risk. MPT is an important tool for investors and financial managers, as it provides a framework for understanding the relationship between risk and return and for constructing portfolios that are optimized for a specific set of objectives.
ChatGPT provides a good explanation of Modern Portfolio Theory.

I hope these suggestions are helpful!
I sought suggestions for a few blog titles for wiring more on ChatGPT, and it delivered me a list of 7 topic ideas.
25. Does ChatGPT plagiarize?
As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I do not have the ability to plagiarize or engage in any other unethical behavior. My main function is to assist users in generating human-like text based on the input that I receive, and I do not have access to the internet, so I cannot browse the web or access external information.
I am only able to provide information and generate text based on my training data. Plagiarism is the act of using someone else’s work or ideas without proper attribution, and it is considered to be unethical and potentially illegal. I am not capable of committing plagiarism, as I am a machine learning model and do not have the ability to engage in such behavior.
Content creation is not an easy job. Plagiarism is a big issue among bloggers. ChatGPT generates answers to questions based on some research and input data that it trained on, so there are questions in our mind about whether it lifts lines from other websites. ChatGPT says it cannot plagiarize content.
I conducted a quick test on Copyscape and here are the results:
Copyscape plagiarism test on ChatGPT’s response to “Why is it important to diversify investments?”
Copyscape plagiarism test on ChatGPT’s response to “What is modern portfolio theory?”
